I just made a blog post about using blender's texture paint to make skins.

Click below to view the full blog post:

Here is the brief tutorial:

[EDIT: I made a startup tutorial going over how to download blender and starting with default settings. Includes acquiring and setting up the NEW models, More Helpful Tips, and other information.]

BE SURE TO SWITCH TO CYCLES RENDER AT THE TOP (thanks Halloween, for reminding me)

I hope it will be of great help to you. Message me know if you have any questions.

[Edit: Quick follow up Video] Obtaining Kano's 3ds files and seting them up. 2d paint features.

It's hard to talk and do stuff T_T''. I feel like a blumbering baka.

Here's a nice quick tutorial I found that shows you how to link blender to an external editing program such as photoshop or gimp. Hope it helps~

(P.S. I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been extremely busy with my new jobs and last year of college. I'm trying to find a small window that I can dedicate to making skins and tutorials for you all though. Thanks for being patient with me.)

1. play the video in slow motion
2. turn up the volume the max
3. tape the speakers to your ears instead of using headphones
4. glue your eyes to the screen

im sure doing this will help you comprehend the video

p.s. I am not responsible if anything happens, blame your cat instead :P

Classy Kano strikes again

►You forgot to mention setting it to cycle render, by default it's on blender render and that makes it kind of impossible to succeed even by following your directions to the t.

Thank you! I forgot I had changed my default settings a while back. I also made a quick followup video on how to obtain the 3ds models and setting them up! I hope it helps!

For 3ds, , select object> A> A> Ctrl+J> R> Z> 90> Return> click Materials tab> click Minus Button (till all materials gone)> click on Plus Button> click on New> click on Dot (to the right of color)> choose image texture> click Open Folder Icon> locate image
Split window at corner by dragging> change 3d object view to UV/Image Editor> click on Image Icon> choose image texture> choose image> tab> edit mode> open ToolBar with T> click on Shading/UVs> Recalculate> Tab> Texture Paint> Scribble Scribble.

Let me know if you have any further inquiries.

The only problem I've found with using ONLY blender is that the painting tools aren't good enuff
Nothin like a GIMP -> Blender Plugin won't fix tho c:
