Okay, so I'm not exactly sure where to place this statement / Question...

Is there a way to make a custom logic script for a server in order to allow players to do /rate (1-5) and rate your room? With an infinite time limit on your room so it never closes...

This seems ridiculously stupid, I know, but this is something I think would add a little competition to room creation... Having players join for the custom map skins, the titans, the players... the skill.. It's no longer fun to just join a random game, kill 6 titans and leave...

This isn't exactly a request for a script, I was just wanting to know if it can be done. General statements on the idea, whether you think it's bad or not.

this is technically possible with the custom script logic, except non-master client chat inputs are not supported. if you created 5 regions and each one correlated to a rating, you can write a script so that players entering a region will set variables accordingly, and later you can print them with a command.

something like
Code:
OnPlayerEnterRegion["rating1"]("player")
{
VariableInt.Add("ratingsCount", 1);
VariableInt.Add("ratingsTotal", 1);
}
OnPlayerEnterRegion["rating2"]("player")
{
VariableInt.Add("ratingsCount", 1);
VariableInt.Add("ratingsTotal", 2);
}
etc.


this said I would avoid investing too much time in using the custom logic feature since it will probably reworked in the future.

Well, I thank you for adding your reply, it means a lot to know there are still helpers around.
Do you know if it would be okay for someone to re-make RCMod and re-release it as custom content? Like.. a Sort of DLC for RCM? I feel like players would go crazy over some new features other then changing their skins and being able to change their name.

Also, the code you posted, it would mean only that when a player joins the rating would go up to that number, but wouldn't it mean also that when they leave it would go down -1 rating? Until it was just the owner, (Me), left in the room?

can't say I care, there are plenty of rc-mod knockoffs that do various things. And I am no longer supporting feng's ad revenue so that is not an issue anymore.

The rating persists as a variable until the master client leaves the game. The bigger issue is preventing people from voting twice, you'd have to do some clever map separation for that.

Hm, I'm not big into scripting my self, I used to have a buddy I could call on to do most of my work for me... Used to pay him with monster energy drinks and free food on the weekends when he was at my house... I've picked up on it a little bit, but I have no clue where to start.

As far as the re-make, my buddy was thinking about taking the code and re-doing the custom logic side, making it like a folder on your desktop that it uses .txt files for reading codes. That would be your considered, "Re-done custom logics"...

Thank you for all your help, I'll dabble in the code and see what I can come up with... I was kind of thinking about a script to announce the rating change... When the rating reaches 10, it says in game, "{Player1} Rating has reached 10" etc... I'll see what I can do, and I'll post the code when I get it working in-case anyone else wants to try it out.
