Or you can just use it for everything... who the fuck said you are only allowed to use it for 1 game

i can tell you why they slash whenever they attach a hook: BECAUSE THEY'RE BLOODY ANNOYING.
some updates ago, whenever you hooked, you had half a second, or something like that, of no gas; you could just then slash whenever the hook attached and you could cancel that animation and have non stop accelleration. i always found that ugly but reasonable. NOW IT'S BLOODY USELESS AND UGLY
i think it works like yelling that you play the game since before continous gas emission was a thing, like saying you're truly hardcore and stuff... i hate that, as soon as the gas thing changed with that update (i think it was the ahss one tho) i forced myself to stop that dumb slashing. a lot of people continue somehow, my advice here is to not act like them, it's useless.
also practice A LOT wasd movement with hooks, it changes the game like nothing else does (you can also gas burst while hooked to gain instantanous momentum). also don't abuse reel, it is really helpful but if you don't master wasd movement first, it will force your style and you will not be able to adapt to any situation

Ofc but that doesn't mean it's ok or it makes sense. If someone is learning now there is no reason at all to focus on slashing after hooking. They may also hook a pt and never let go or yoyo on annie or anything, just because they have the right to do it, it doesn't mean it makes any sense

Ok call me a nerd but idc. If you wanna get good at 3dmg, then here's some good tips.

3dmg movement is all about speed and angles. I am really good with angles, so it just comes natural to me. If you're ever about to crash into a tower or tree, try gas bursting to the side. This is a fast and efficient way to dodge objects or what-not.

Anyway, back to maneuvering. When flying through the air, I reel in A LOT. This is merely for two reasons. It's so I can gain more speed in mid-air, and so I can make a sudden change in my direction. By doing this, I can line myself up better with Titan. If you can go the correct speed (fast or slow depending on your angle), then that would be a massive factor to 3dmg movement. I go really fast but that's because of what I said before. I'm just good with angles.

Trust me, I have A LOTTA LOTTA LOTTA MORE TIPS. Just message me if you want more cause I don't wanna take up the whole page ;-)

Actually, at some point, slashing not only canceled the re-hook animation (It still does), it at one point and time apparently gave a little bit of a better speed. That's why myself, and other fellow players, still slice. Mainly it's habit, but it's also because we used to do it for the speed, and do it for canceling the animation. It's not because we're annoying. It's because we're used to playing like that.

As to help the situation, I find that continually practicing in Forest with 1k set usually helps, because you work on your movement, dodging objects/titans, hooking, and overall slash placement. I've grown as a 1ker (And closer to my goal, Shake) by doing this, and plan to continue. Usually, you can find me in game, in a recruiting server. In case you need a few demonstrations in game.
