The only way I get notified of posts on my threads is emails. Is there no notification thing? Also, can I turn off email notifications somehow?

To turn off email notifications, you need to unsubscribe to the topic you are receiving them from.

Turn off email notifs in board preferences under settings.

You can subscribe to topics to receive emails only on that topic. But I don't believe other notification options are possible with phpbb.
